Coach Vollmuth, Bob Dougherty '11, coach Josh Farman '02, and coach Tom Calvario
Bob Dougherty ’11 received the 2011 National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete award during an awards ceremony at Villanova University on Wednesday, May 4. Villanova hosts the Philadelphia chapter of the national organization. Bob’s brother, Bill ’08, who was a four-year varsity football player and co-captain of the 2007 team, received the award in 2008.
“We chose Bob for the award because of the combination of his being a four-year contributor to the program and his academic excellence,” said head coach Marty Vollmuth. “He was a defensive starter his fifth and sixth form seasons, and played quarterback for three seasons; his fifth form year, he helped us win three games while filling in for the injured starting QB. As a sixth former, Bob willingly changed his offensive position to help make the team better. He was selected as Hill’s 2010 All-Academic MAPL football representative. He will be attending Princeton in the fall and will play for their Sprint Football program.”
Congratulations for winning the award, Bob!
