On Monday, May 2, the varsity boys’ golf team took a break from their practice routine to help make repairs to their home course, Brookside Country Club. Under the direction of Head Coach Joe Lagor and Brookside's Head Greenskeeper, Jeff Fanok, the team repaired the tee areas on every hole and on the practice area by using sand and grass seed to repair the damage on these high-use areas and promote new grass growth.
The Hill School and Brookside Country Club have a unique relationship, dating back to the building of the original nine-hole course by The Hill in 1916. Throughout the years, Hill has maintained a collaborative relationship with Brookside; this relationship has continued since the Club expanded the facility to an outstanding 18-hole course more than 55 years ago.
“Our players were able to help the staff improve the condition of the course,” said Lagor. “We get to play on a first-class course every day, and we wanted to show our appreciation in a tangible way.”
