Three girls' basketball players from the class of 2011 will go on to play collegiate basketball next year: Steph Schultz (Pottstown, PA) will play for Colgate University, Ellen Dvorak (Phoenixville, PA) will play for Eastern University, and Kerri-Leanne Taylor (Stockport, England) will play for Virginia Wesleyan College. The girls represent the School's largest class of girls' basketball players to move on and play collegiately. Below are comments from head coach Grey Simpson about the girls:
“Ellen arrived at Hill three years ago from just down the road in Phoenixville, and brought with her not just basketball talent on the court but a tremendous leadership quality. She was voted captain by her teammates in both her fifth and sixth form seasons, and her leadership on and off the court has helped take the Hill girls’ basketball program to new heights. Ellen finishes her Hill career ranked seventh all-time in two point field goals made (188) and 15th in games played (70). Ellen will continue her basketball career at nearby Eastern University in Philadelphia, where she has earned an academic scholarship.”
“Kerri arrived at Hill two years ago with aspirations of playing college basketball in the United States, and managed to obtain that goal. She led Hill in three point shooting each of the past two seasons, and climbed all the way up to fourth on Hill’s all-time career three-point shooting list. In addition to her on-the-court talents, Kerri is an outstanding student. Her academic accomplishments enabled her to receive the one full academic scholarship awarded by Virginia Wesleyan every year.”
“Steph came to Hill this year as a post graduate following an outstanding career at nearby Pottsgrove High School. She finished this season as Hill’s leading scorer (14.9 ppg) and rebounder (8.1 rpg) on the way to earning unanimous First Team All-MAPL recognition. She took advantage of her post graduate year, gaining a basketball scholarship to Division I Colgate University.”
