Hill started its season with three easy and decisive victories over Perkiomen, West-Mont Christian, and George School. It seemed that the Blues may be headed for a solid dual meet season. Unfortunately injuries have slowed the team’s progress. This first dual event was the first and last time the team had their lineup intact. The result has been only two more dual meet victories over league rivals Lawrenceville and Peddie. The Blues finished with a dual meet record of 5-6. I am confident in saying that these losses do not accurately reflect how the Blues have been competing.
The Blues have managed several impressive individual results. Chad Saunders ’14 finished January with a 19-4 record. Chad who wrestled both 103 and 112 lbs. this season is undefeated against Pennsylvania Prep. opponents, and added an impressive victory over St. Benedict’s tough 103 pounder. Chad looks to be a top seed at the PAISWT tourney. Chad’s brother Colin ’12 has a similar record of 15-4, mostly at 145 lbs. Colin has also bumped up to 152 lbs. on occasion to get the toughest matchups possible. Colin’s only losses this year have come to wrestlers that have placed at the top of National Preps, PIAA States, and Beast of the East. He’s had an excellent season and will look to continue this in February. PG John Mauk ’11 currently boasts a 13-3 record with his only losses coming to another PG, at state placer from NJ, a state placer from Delaware, and the National Prep runner up. John hopes to make his mark at the National Prep tournament later this month.
