Many special holiday traditions took place at Hill during these last 11 days leading up to the holiday break (Dec. 16 through Jan.4). The annual Winter Instrumental Music Festival, featuring the Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, was held on Friday, Dec. 10. The Hill's annual Candlelight Services of Lessons and Carols were held on Sunday, Dec. 12. The services included songs and hymns performed by The Hill’s student choral groups and The Hill's Community Chorus, as well as scripture readings offered by members of The Hill community. On Tuesday, Dec. 14, sixth form students, together with Headmaster and Mrs. Dougherty and faculty members, gathered in the Saunders Room for the annual Sixth Form Sing-a-long. View a video of the sing-a-long here.
On Saturday, Dec. 11, The Hill School debate squad explored both sides of Cyberbullying at the La Salle College High School debate tournament. Gary Kim '14 and Eric Lee '14 placed in the top eight teams at the tournament. Also held this week was Operation Smile's annual Candy Gram sale where students could purchase a candy cane to be delivered with a personalized note to friends. In Mr. Ned Ide's American Studies class, students participated in a group project where each team was charged with casting and marketing a contemporary version of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The teams had 30 muinutes to create casting and scene decisions and poster concepts on the chalk board. |
