The Hill School’s instrumental (Chamber Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble) and choral groups (Chorus, Glee Club, and the Hilltones/Hilltrebles) presented their Spring Music Festival on Friday, April 23.
Songs performed by the Chorus and Glee Club include “Russian Alleluia,” “J’entends le Moulin,” “Mata Del Anima Sola” (featuring a solo by Nick Skitko '10) and “The Conversion of Saul.”
The Hilltones and Hilltrebles, Hill’s select male and female a cappella groups, performed “Viva la Mamma,” featuring a solo by Henry Eve ’10; “Imagine,” featuring a solo by Amy Reichert ’10; and “Lucky,” featuring solos by Diana Kang ’10 and Frederick Schlick ’10.
Songs performed by the orchestra include “Divertimento in D: Allegro, Andante and Presto;” “In a Gentle Rain,” featuring Sue Yoon ’11; “The Lord of the Dance;” Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G Major Allegro,” featuring Ashley Koo ’10 and Diana Kang ’10 on flute, and Anna Oh ’10 on violin.
The orchestra also performed “Memoirs of Bach Festival,” an original composition written and conducted by Anthony Urbano ’11. This performance featured the Chorus and Glee Club with solos by soprano Lauren Werner ’10 and tenor Fred Schlick.
The Jazz Ensemble performed several pieces, including “Devil with the Blue Dress” featuring Alex Evans ’12 on trumpet; “Channel Three” with Anthony Urbano on trumpet and Tommy Lenzi ’10 on guitar; “Smooth,” featuring Tommy Lenzi on guitar; and “A Blues to Blow On” performed by Alejandro Washington ’10, Joe Scotese ’11, Adam Regensburg ’10, Kyushik Nam ’13, and Ben Walsh ’12.
