Guidelines for awarding grants

Students participating on the Student Philanthropy Council (SPC) will be given the chance to explore philanthropy by giving major grants to Pottstown charities. The SPC is funded through a $35,000 gift to be used over the next three years. Each year students will have $10,000 to donate in the forms of three to five grants.

Funding will NOT be considered for the following:

  • Organizations funded primarily by public taxation
  • Medical, scientific, or academic research
  • General operating support
  • The Arts, except for educational after school programs
  • Capital campaigns
  • Individual scholarships or awards for merit
  • Band or sports team funding
  • National organizations (except ones that are directly and specifically benefitting the community)
