Students participating on the Student Philanthropy Council (SPC) will be given the chance to explore philanthropy by giving major grants to Pottstown charities. The SPC is funded through a $35,000 gift to be used over the next three years. Each year students will have $10,000 to donate in the forms of three to five grants.
Funding will NOT be considered for the following:
- Organizations funded primarily by public taxation
- Medical, scientific, or academic research
- General operating support
- The Arts, except for educational after school programs
- Capital campaigns
- Individual scholarships or awards for merit
- Band or sports team funding
- National organizations (except ones that are directly and specifically benefitting the community)
