SAT TEST CENTER: 39594 SAT SCHOOL CODE: 394080 |
ACT TEST CENTER: 185650 ACT SCHOOL CODE: 394080 | Fourth form students have NOT yet registered on College Board’s website. Parents, please be aware several students subsequently incurr multiple accounts, so please speak with your son or daughter before registering. Students need to access these accounts for testing during their fifth and sixth form years. View the testing schedule for the 2011-12 academic year. Please contact Director of Testing Morgana Schlick at mschlick@thehill.org or 610-705-1037 if you have any questions about standardized testing. 1. Only Take SAT Subject Tests if it is appropriate.
- SAT subject tests are one-hour long multiple-choice assessments. Students may take up to three tests in one sitting. The number of SAT subject tests required varies among colleges; therefore, it is best to check each school's admission requirements. Since students most likely will not have a complete list of schools to which they will be applying, we recommend taking subject tests at the completion of the appropriate course.
- Subject tests are offered in the following fields of study: literature, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics 1 & 2, U.S. history, French, Spanish, German, Modern Hebrew, and Latin. Students should speak with his or her college adviser and teacher for advice about these tests.
- The Hill School is NOT a test center in March and June. The school year ends on June 1, 2011.
- The cost of the SAT subject test is approximately $22.00; additional fees may apply depending on the quantity of exams being taken.
2. PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test)
- The PSAT/NMSQT is taken during the fourth and fifth form years. It is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT. For fifth form students, it also identifies qualifiers for National Merit Scholarships. All eligible Hill School students automatically will be registered to take this test which only is given in October; students will receive the results in December. Parents will be billed a nominal fee for this test. Read more about the PSAT/NMSQT.
3. Special accommodations for testing
- Students who have special needs or learning differences may be eligible to receive extended time accommodations. In order to be granted extended time, students must be evaluated by a qualified learning specialist (licensed or certified in a medical or allied health discipline) who can diagnose particular disabilities. A copy of the evaluation must be provided to the Office of Testing. Parents should be aware that there is no guarantee a student will be granted an extended time request, as this decision is under the jurisdiction of the testing companies. If you believe your child is eligible, please contact Director of Testing Morgana Schlick at mschlick@thehill.org or 610-705-1037. Please note: Requests for accommodations must be brought to the School's attention at least 10 weeks prior to the test date.
