Please contact Director of Testing Morgana Schlick at mschlick@thehill.org or 610-705-1037 if you have any questions about standardized testing.
1. Only take SAT subject tests if appropriate
- SAT subject tests are one-hour long multiple-choice assessments. Students may take up to three tests in one sitting. Many colleges require results from two subject tests, while some require three; however, many colleges do not require subject test results. Since students most likely will not have a complete list of schools to which they will be applying, we recommend taking subject tests at the completion of the appropriate course.
- Subject tests are offered in the following fields of study: literature, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics 1 & 2, U.S. history, French, Spanish, German, Modern Hebrew, and Latin. Students should speak with his or her college adviser and teacher for advice about these tests.
- The Hill School is NOT a test center in March and June. The school year ends on June 1, 2011.
- The cost of the SAT subject test is approximately $22.00; additional fees may apply depending on the quantity of exams being taken.
2. Special accommodations for testers
- Students who have special needs or learning differences may be eligible to receive extended time accommodations. In order to be granted extended time, students must be evaluated by a qualified learning specialist (licensed or certified in a medical or allied health discipline) who can diagnose particular disabilities. A copy of the evaluation must be provided to the Office of Testing. Parents should be aware that there is no guarantee a student will be granted an extended time request, as this decision is under the jurisdiction of the testing companies. If you believe your child is eligible, please contact Director of Testing Morgana Schlick at mschlick@thehill.org or 610-705-1037. Please note: Requests for accommodations must be brought to the School's attention at least 10 weeks prior to the test date.
