The Hill School's annual Winter Music Festival took place on Friday, December 7, 2007 featuring musical performances by the Jazz Ensemble, Orchestra, Glee Club, Chorus, Hilltones, and Hilltrebles.
The Chorus and Glee Club and the Hilltones and Hilltrebles were all led by Brandon Straub, Oaklawn-Tuttle Director of Vocal Music, in performances of selections including “Sleigh Ride”, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”, "In the Bleak Mid Winter", and a rendition of "He Watching Over Israel" performed by Ariel Royer '08, Gabby Reichert '08, Nic Zawarski '08, and Drew Skitko '08.
The instrumental portion of the festival, led by Margie Ritchie Neiswender, director of instrumental music and chair of the arts department, included pieces performed by The Hill School Orchestra such as “Angels We Have Heard On High” and “There’s Christmas in the Air.” In addition, the Jazz Ensemble performed "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and “Jingle Bell Rock”. Enjolie Levengood '11 (trumpet), Jon Font '10 (trombone), and Alex Sohn '08 (alto saxophone) were featured soloists during the rendition of “Big Band Christmas.”
