- Each year, Tom Johnson, instructor of history, leads a trip to either Gettysburg, Pa. or Antietam Battlefield, Md. for his U.S. history classes. Students experience first-hand an area that students spend a significant time reading and learning about in class. Highlights of the trip Gettysburg include visiting the battlefields, the Eternal Flame Memorial, Virginia Memorial, the statue of Robert E. Lee, the site where Pickett's Charge began, and the Little Round Top. Highlights of the trip to Antietam include“The Cornfield” and “Burnside’s Bridge," two of the most prominent features of the battlefield.

- Each spring, Christopher Drowne '87, Chair of the History Department and Carl Knobloch Instructor of Economics, and Karl Miran, instructor of economics, visit New York City with Hill economics students. Hosted by Hill alumni, students visit the New York Stock Exchange and spend a day on the floor with pages and specialists as guests of LaBranche & Co.
