Ellen Nelson, chair of the arts department, uses technology to expedite the sending of students' art work to prospective college admission offices. "Now I can simply forward digital files along with supplementary information to admission offices and/or to coaches," Ellen explains. "I recently acquired an up-to-date computer that is capable of burning cds that can hold images of student work. With this computer, I can scan images from the original artwork. I can also scan color slides. This last addition is especially convenient as all Studio Art A.P. material is originally sent to the College School Board via color slides, and it is often copies of those slides that I hold as the students' portfolio record."
Ellen also has teamed up with Artsonia.com to display Hill students' artwork on Artsonia's international website, along with the works of young people from more than 80 foreign countries. "Artsonia offers a wonderful way to integrate technology into Hill's art curriculum," Ellen notes.
