Hill ties and scarves

Graduates receive their Hill ties and scarves at the Alumni Association Brunch

All male Hill students receive an "official" blue and gray diagonally striped Hill tie, which represents The Hill School. After the move to coeducation in 1998, female students began to receive beautiful blue and gray silk scarves with the classic Hill tie stripes. Hill ties and scarves are presented to graduating sixth formers at an Alumni Association brunch the day before commencement to mark their passage from being Hill students to becoming Hill alumni. If a student wishes to purchase a Hill tie or scarf prior to graduation, he or she may do so at the Campus Store.

Hill ties and scarves currently are made by Bedlinger in Philadelphia, Pa.The ties originally were designed by Hobart G. Weekes, Hill class of 1919. While a student at Oxford, Weekes discovered that men wore ties representing the prestigious England boarding schools they attended. He then initiated having ties made for The Hill and since 1923, the Hill ties tradition has remained strong.
