Ji Hyon Hwang '13 (oboe), Gary Kim (flute), and Jamie Powel '14 (mallet percussion) were selected by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) to participate in the upcoming District 11 music festivals. The PMEA held auditions for the 12 districts within the state of Pennsylvania on Saturday, December 10, 2011; several Hill musicians traveled to Central Bucks East High School to compete against approximately 600 other high school musicians for a chance to participate in the District 11 Orchestra and District 11 Band festivals. The musicians were tested on their sight-reading ability, scale, and solo performance. 

Ji Hyon will represent The Hill at District Band and District Orchestra. Gary and Jamie will attend the District Band Festival. The three-day District Band Festival will be held on January 5-7, 2012 at Neshaminy High School. The three-day District Orchestra Festival will take place on February 9-11, 2012 at Central Bucks East High School.
