Given the high level of competition and the difficulty of our schedule, we celebrated every improvement and minor victory along the way to Easterns. Last year there were 44 schools attending the event from as far away as Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Ohio, as well as from most of the states in between. The boys placed 17th, our second best finish since 2007, and the girls placed seventh, the second highest finish in program history.
The season began with a talk by George Edelman '85, MPT, OCS, MCT, on the prevention of shoulder injuries in swimming. While at The Hill, George lettered in and captained water polo, and also lettered in swimming. He then swam at the University of Richmond, and still is a master swimmer. He has spent his career investivating and correcting improper stretching and exercises for swimmers, including serving as an adviser to many teams
including the U.S. Olympic Team in 2008. We enjoyed his presentation and
appreciate his taking the time to spend the day with us.
The girls' team broke five School records:
- 200 Medley Relay
- 200 Freestyle
- 50 Freestyle
- 200 Freestyle Relay
- 100 Backstroke
Five girls earned nine medals for top six finishes at Easterns:
